Denit has its own extremely fast, extremely reliable network. The network infrastructure extends across three data centre sites in Amsterdam. Because of the architecture of the network the uptime over the past few years has been very close to one hundred per cent.
In the KPN DC2 data centre, our main site, there are two Brocade NetIron MLX-8 core routers/switches with a backbone capacity of 10 Gbit. Should one of the two MLX-8 routers fail, then the other automatically takes over all the traffic. You can place your ICT environment at this site with an SLA up to 99.999%.
We handle the routing and switching of the network in-house, in line with our belief that the core of our service must not be outsourced. We use OSPF for the internal routing, BGP for the external. All traffic is handled as efficiently and quickly as possible.
Denit has a connection to the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) and a connection to the Netherlands Internet Exchange (NL-IX/Open peering). We also have very high-quality transit connections. The connections have been selected to create optimum accessibility globally. Our network has more than enough capacity to cope with major peaks in traffic without difficulty. Click here for a summary of our connections and a network diagram.
For even more far-reaching redundancy we can also place your ICT environment across more than one data centre. So that in the event of a fault in one data centre your ICT environment carries on working in the other.
Denit is a member of RIPE, the organisation that manages and issues IP addresses. We are an LIR (Local Internet Registry), which means that we own our IP addresses. In this way we control the numbering of our network ourselves and our customers benefit from this stability. Our AS number is AS25542.
